Lectures on Tibetan Medicine : Social Change, Economy and Development, image 1The communicant explored the consequences of the recent emergence of the free market on traditional medicine in Spiti, a remote valley of Himachal Pradesh. Using this macro change as a tool to offer an in-depth study of micro localized social transformations, he has unpacked a series of fundamental elements pertaining to the transformation of a traditional medical system, locally named Sowa Rigpa.
