The Organisation Nomad RSI celebrates its 10 year anniversary

in October 2007

Affiche - 10 ans de NomadAfter 10 years of experiences and working together, in October Nomad RSI has invited some members of its partner teams from the South (two Cambodians and three Ladakhis) to France. These members are working in the fields of health, medical traditions and environmental conservation. They stayed for a full month in France and the month has been dedicated to solidarity and festive meetings dealing with “therapeutic diversity and medicinal plants” as well as health and environmental issues in the context of North/South relationships.

PARIS: 6th to 10th October

Sat 6th Oct. - arrival of Sorn Sarun and Tri (Nomad Cambodia) and of Karma Namgyal, Karma Chodon and Tsewang Gonbo (Ladakh Society for Traditional Medicines) in Paris

- Meetings with partners

NANTES: 11th to 13th October

MEETING
Thursday 11th Oct. at 7p.m, Duplex Municipal Hall
– Slide show and presentation of Nomad RSI’s projects in Cambodia and Ladakh (India), with the participation of the Cambodian and Indian partners (Free entrance).

BORDEAUX: 14th and 15th October

CONFERENCE
Sunday 14th Oct., Bordeaux exhibition hall
- Exhibition “Himalaya - Tibet, the collision of continents” organised by Cap Sciences. Amchi Karma Chodon (LSTM) presented an overview of the main concepts of Tibetan Medicine. There also were a projection of Martin Saxer’s documentary « Journeys with Tibetan medicine » (2005), tracing the history of a Bouriat healer’s family from Russia to Europe.

MEETING
Monday 15th Oct. at IUT “Management of development projects”
, Pierre Rabelais University- Bordeaux.. Discussions held on international solidarity between the students and the Indian and Cambodian partners.

PYRENEES ORIENTALES : 21st to 23rd October

Sunday 21st Oct., Workshop with Miss Karine Chevrot, project coordinator of the “Medicinal Plants and knowledge conservation” project in Cambodia.

Monday 22nd and Tuesday 23rd Oct., Workshop with the theatre troupe Volubilis (Elne) and Elise Artidel – Awareness-raising techniques for environmental and health issues.

“Medicinal Plants, local production and import” with Ms Elisabeth Dodinet, ethnobotanist and SIMPLES (MP) Union.

ACADEMIC SEMINAR- Friday 26th Oct., EHESS Toulouse - Nomad RSI Research Unit Seminar “Therapeutic Knowledge and Medicinal Materials in the Tibetan World. Perspectives in Social Sciences", with the support of the French Institute of Pondicherry, EHESS and the University Paul Cézanne (CReCSS).

BOTANICAL WALKS Friday 26th Oct. at 6pm in Toulouse - “Awareness on wild flora in urban area s” Open to all, €3 to 5

Sunday 28th Oct. at 11am, The Cinema Utopia, Tournefeuille – “Therapeutic diversity in the South: when the North learns from the South” and Martin Saxer’s documentary « Journeys with Tibetan medicine » (2005).

EXHIBITION / MEETING / CONCERT

Tuesday 23rd Oct. at 6.30pm, Etymon Association Office (36, rue B. Mulé, Toulouse) - Opening of the photographic exhibition “Medicinal Plants and healer-patient relationships in Ladakh and Cambodia”. Follow by a concert.

Saturday 27th Oct., 6.30 pm, Etymon Association hall - Closing of the photographic exhibition, story-telling and tastes of Cambodian and Ladakhi special dishes with the presence of the Cambodians and Indians partners

Saturday 27th Oct. from 9.30pm at the Association Amanita Muscaria hall (4 rue Viguerie. Toulouse) - Nomad family and friends in concert: world music from Brittany and beyond. The Toulousan band “Coupés Décalés” (voice, clarinet and klezmer violin); ethnic Jazz and down tempo electro (Le Jardinier from Paris / Moja Moja Sound System and Tradikal from Pondy), Jam session €5.

- Discussions between the students and the Indian and Cambodian partners on international solidarity.
